(Nepeta cataria) Rub on meat to add flavor. Infuse as a relaxing tea. Other reported medicinal uses include the easing of menstrual cramps and insomnia relief, as well as, stress, anxiety, colds and flu, inflammation and pain. Has been known to be a children remedy for upset stomach, colic, fever, diarrhea and nausea.
Cat owners often rub this herb on places where a cat can sharpen its claws and not cause any trouble. The plant secretes an oil to ward off its enemies and that’s what attracts the cats to the plant and excites them.
